Who are we?

We are a three generation small family run business, with me (Amy) steering the ship. I grew up in the 90s and yet the smell of Nag Champa, the sight of light reflecting from crystals and the sound of 60s and 80s that shaped my childhood feels like only yesterday. My teenage years were spent dying my hair black, listening to rock and emo music and spending my every waking moment on MSN. Now, MSN messenger may not be around anymore, but my love for all things gothic and emo music still remains. 

Fast forward 20 years and I now have an incredible partner and two beautiful children. But a debilitating and long drawn out fibromyalgia and severe sleep apnea diagnosis combined with an exhaustion from applying for jobs which promise to be child and family oriented to get you through the door (only to then do the opposite when you've signed on the dotted line) made me reevaluate what I truly wanted from life.
Making home fragrance products has been a passion of mine for years and combining it with the sights and smells of my childhood felt like a no brainer. My daughter (Amelia) has grown up watching me pouring and melting wax melts and seeing her enthusiasm to help meant that this was something that would be worth doing.

 

How The Name Came To Be

Our name reflects my little emo loving heart and one of my favourite bands. You may spot a few nods to their songs, their albums within this website, including this page itself! The apothecary part stems from history. People would visit an apothecary for remedies, and the act of self care is truly important yet often forgotten. We may not be selling medicines in the traditional sense, but helping to calm the mind, having a moment for relaxation time and taking care of you is medicine in itself. 

When you buy from us, you're truly supporting a small family business who do a happy dance with every order. You're helping to form something that we hope to be long lasting, while helping to give our children a chance at a making something for themselves.
